Grassfed and Finished Beef with Gordon Dvorak

Grassfed and Finished Beef producer Gordon Dvorak Gordon E. Dvorak is from Atkinson, Nebraska and a fourth generation operator for Dvorak Bros. Ranch.  The ranch was homesteaded in 1880 by his Great Grandfather, Jan Dvorak.

He is married to his wife, Shannon and has two sons , Dawson and Tannon.  Tannon and his wife, Jenna and their two children joined the ranch operation in 2008 and has been a real blessing to Gordon and his wife.

He has been involved with the ranch his my life with the exception of two years at UNL Ag College.  They were strictly a Hereford cattle operation until the 1980’s when they developed a four breed composite.  During the late 1990’s they fazed out of that composite and went straight Red Angus, which is still their primary breed and I gotta tell ya, Gordon has some really nice cattle.  Over the last eight years their beef production has been entirely focused on natural grassfed beef cattle, selling both breeding stock and grass finished cattle.  With their current genetics they have developed early maturing cattle that are grass finished in 18 to 20 months.

Bred Heifers Winter 09 10 009The past ten years they have reduced their cow herd to their current size and offer custom grazing throughout the summer pasture season.  For over thirty years He had a pilot’s license and checked his pastures weekly with a plane.  Poor health gradually ended his flying.

He attends St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and is active as a lectorer, EME and works with several different youth and adult ministries.  Also he has been trained as an Asera Hospice volunteer.  He is currently the Holt/Boyd Area Chairman for the Nebraska Cattlemen and has participated in the Sare Program with Iowa State University.

In his spare time he likes to spend time with the grandkids, quiet time in nature, boating/fishing, hunting and wildlife photography.

Enjoy this free training with one of the greats in of the grassfed beef world, Gordon Dvorak.
